Day trip to Jingdong Canyon, Pinggu

If you live in Beijing and are looking for a day trip with friends, then Jingdong Grand Canyon in Pinggu is a good option. Less than two hours drive from downtown is known for it's steep mountains and valleys. The big attraction is also the glass bridge that goes around the mountain.

You have to hike a bit to get to the glass bridge. The steps are quite steep, I wouldn't recommend it if you have young kids as it is quite tiring and tedious especially in the summer.
If you don't prefer hiking all the way to the top, they have boat rides for 20 yuan per person .The toboggan and the cable cars were not in service when we visited.

Our office organized this trip so since we were a large group we got discounts, also there are no restaurants but just tiny shops serving food, so it is better to carry your own food.
