Lama Temple-Yonghegong

To get there:Take Subway Line 5, get off at Yonghegong Station

Lama Temple is a perfect spot if you want to visit a tourist spot in Beijing when are pressed for time.

We finished the tour in about an hour. The main attraction here is the 18 metre tall Buddha carved out of a single white sandalwood. It's also been recorded in the Guiness Book of Records.  The structures is truly beautiful.

You can also find a lot of people burning incense and praying to Lord Buddha. We also got to see monks chanting their morning prayers. The atmosphere is more religious than just any other tourist spot.

"Yonghegong promulgates peace, luck, friendliness and happiness to the world"

Beside the Yonghegong Lama Temple is the Wudaoying Hutong that is now a popular expat hangout as it has many popular restaurants. If you are in the area you can try the Vineyard Cafe or Argo. For a special occasion you can drop by Saffron.
