2013 - Year of the Snake

It's another year gone by...(We've survived Doomsday) It's now our 5th year in the Jing...

Beijing has been special to us in more ways than one...It's where we've had many firsts...Our first trip as a married couple, Our first trip to a wonder of the world and now a place where we've had our first baby.
We've made so many beautiful memories in the city, so many emotions attached to this place.
We've seen people coming in to the city as newbies and have bid goodbyes to close friends moving out for better opportunities.

Well, it's been a roller coaster ride last year, and we hope this year will bring in as much happiness and blessings if not more. I'm trying hard to balance work and personal life as I get back to work after a five month maternity leave and hubby tubby has been so supportive throughout.

I haven't had a chance to update my blog too often last year, and I hope I can do better this year. We've been away for a long time and just got back this month. I missed the first snow early December and escaped the chilly nights of minus 17 degrees. It's much warmer now, though, we did come back to a very smoggy Beijing. Air purifiers are selling like hot cakes , so are the anti pollution masks. With the Chinese New year around the corner, hopefully we'll see better days.

This year is the year of the Snake as per Chinese mythology. The story of the Chinese zodiac goes that during the race held to cross a river the snake who wasn't the best swimmer hitched a ride on the horse( by hiding in it's hoof) and as the horse was about to finish the race , he jumped out scaring the horse thus edging it out for the sixth place in the zodiac chart. The baby boom continues this year, as the snake is considered to be a mini - dragon, also a lucky year to have babies.

Ending the post with a very corny snake joke...
What did the snake give to his wife?
A goodnight hiss!

Wishing you all a very happy 2013! Cheers! :-)
